What is Direct Access Physical Therapy?
Virginia law gives, the consumer, the right to obtain Physical Therapy services directly, without requiring a referral from a referring licensed health practitioner (doctor of medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic, podiatry, dental surgery, licensed nurse practitioner, or licensed physician assistant) for a 60-day period.
To receive additional physical therapy services beyond this 60-day period, a referral from a licensed health care practitioner needs to be obtained.
If I come to physical therapy Direct Access, does this mean my physician won’t be involved?
When you come Direct Access, you may ask us to include your family physician or any other provider that is involved in your care. We are happy to send regular updates to the provider of your choice.
Will my insurance cover physical therapy if I come Direct Access?
Yes. Most insurance companies recognize Direct Access laws and cover physical therapy services without a physician order. Typically, when insurance coverage is verified, the insurance company usually indicates if the insurance policy requires an order. If that is the case, we will work with the physician of your choice to obtain the order.

Please arrive 15 to 20 mins early of your appointment time to allow enough time to fill out your paperwork and to be seen in a timely manner.
Your paperwork can me filled out ahead of time in your convenience if you request it to be sent to you via email or download from our website.

Please bring the following on your first visit: (1) Insurance card(s), (2) Photo ID, (3) Referral from your provider/MD, (4) List of medication (if applicable).
What should I wear for my visit?
Dress like if you were going to a gym to work out. You should wear loose fitting clothing so you can expose the area that we will be evaluating and treating. For example, if you have a knee problem, it is best to wear shorts. For a shoulder problem, a tank top is a good choice. And for low back problems, wear a loose-fitting shirt and pants.
As an example, it is hard to evaluate a knee condition while the patient is wearing jeans.
